The weather forecast for Monday was rain, but we decided to go ahead with the photo shoot as it’s not often that this family gets together so time was precious and we had loads of fun while taking their Family Portraits before the rain… As I was finishing off, taking a few shots in the garden the rain came down.  This amazing mom creates the most beautiful floral arrangements and she’d asked me to take a few photos of her orchids.  This shoot was so easy – they were all so good looking and so chilled! It was great getting to know them and I can’t wait for our coffee date :)

My Camera loved these three little girls during their family photo shoot at Highbury Preparatory School over the week end:)  What a glorious winter’s day God blessed us with in Hillcrest, Durban.  I couldn’t believe how big J & T are… I hate the way time flies, when we don’t make the time to catch up with old friends and family.  It was great spending the afternoon with this little family – can’t wait for you to see the beautiful family portraits I have of you all!

A Beautiful Baby makes for Beautiful Baby Portraits, but babies between the ages of 7 and 10 months are at the stage where they now decide whether they will or will not smile… And some babies choose to ignore me.  But before this little guy ignored me completely I stole some beautiful baby portraits – isn’t he gorgeous?! :) And I simply **love** this intimate family portrait where no one is even looking at the camera! The love and laughter is so apparent and I had so muh fun with this couple  - it was like catching up with old friends.  Thank you for opening your home to me and welcoming me in with such warmth – I feel like I’ve known you forever (I love it when I get that feeling – I can call this family my friends rather than my clients!)  If I’m ever in Pietermaritzburg in the near future I’ll be sure to pop in for a cup of tea… :)

Last week I had an unexpected Newborn Photo Shoot.  I knew this little guy’s mom was pregnant but I didn’t know he had arrived!  Last week end we went to a friend’s birthday braai and I saw his Daddy holding this teeny tiny little bundle, no it couldn’t be – I thought to myself.  But yes, it was – he had arrived early as he couldn’t wait to meet his loving mom and his oh so proud dad! :)  So we chatted and oohed and ahed and it came up in the conversation that I was a photographer and more specifically a Newborn photographer in the greater Durban area.  It just so happened that they were thinking of having a photoshoot but hadn’t booked with anyone.  So we chose a date and I had a very pleasant and unexpected Newborn Photo Shoot!  He was soooo good – and so co-operative.  Can’t wait for you guys to see the rest of the photos especially the studio styled ones – will post some soon…

Family Photos

August 21, 2010

I have so many photographs to blog and I have often said I wish I had family photos like the ones I take for my clients of my own family?  Well feeling exhausted after two family photo shoots today I came home to my beautiful little girl waiting for me at the bottom of our entrance steps.  Before smothering her with kisses I put my camera bag down, attached a lens on my new camera and focussed on her.  This is what greeted me :) I thought I’d quickly edit these before I start my backing up and editing and blogging – yes, to all my clients your photos will be on their way shortly – Its my turn for some family portraits.

Some more Baby Portraits

August 16, 2010

I found some more Baby Portraits while I was going through my edited work.  On a side note I have failed hopelessly at my Photo-a-day challenge so I will be trying to revive it…
