The weather forecast for Monday was rain, but we decided to go ahead with the photo shoot as it’s not often that this family gets together so time was precious and we had loads of fun while taking their Family Portraits before the rain… As I was finishing off, taking a few shots in the garden the rain came down.  This amazing mom creates the most beautiful floral arrangements and she’d asked me to take a few photos of her orchids.  This shoot was so easy – they were all so good looking and so chilled! It was great getting to know them and I can’t wait for our coffee date :)

My Camera loved these three little girls during their family photo shoot at Highbury Preparatory School over the week end:)  What a glorious winter’s day God blessed us with in Hillcrest, Durban.  I couldn’t believe how big J & T are… I hate the way time flies, when we don’t make the time to catch up with old friends and family.  It was great spending the afternoon with this little family – can’t wait for you to see the beautiful family portraits I have of you all!

Family Photos

August 21, 2010

I have so many photographs to blog and I have often said I wish I had family photos like the ones I take for my clients of my own family?  Well feeling exhausted after two family photo shoots today I came home to my beautiful little girl waiting for me at the bottom of our entrance steps.  Before smothering her with kisses I put my camera bag down, attached a lens on my new camera and focussed on her.  This is what greeted me :) I thought I’d quickly edit these before I start my backing up and editing and blogging – yes, to all my clients your photos will be on their way shortly – Its my turn for some family portraits.

What a cutie pie

August 8, 2010

What a cutie pie this little 9 month old baby girl was, considering she was starting a temperature… She was so happy and I could see how much joy she brings to her mom & dad.  They love her so much – her mom just wants to ‘eat’ the little chubby rolls on her thighs and arms! I got some gorgeous photos of all her body parts while she lay passed out & fast asleep on the blanket for a quick power nap.  After that she was up & about with loads of hugs and kisses for everyone.  I always wish I had these types of family and baby portraits of my own family in photo albums and frames on the wall…

This Newborn & family photo shoot was very special to me, as the first time I photographed this little family I was 8 months pregnant.  I was so excited to see what Ben looked like as I had taken his Newborn photos about 17 months ago.  Ben’s new little brother is just as cute and again I was amazed at how relaxed mom & dad were.  I looked back at some photos from Ben’s shoot and couldn’t believe how similar they are.  We tried to copy a few poses from Ben’s shoot and I think mom will be happy, I just hope the date of the prints doesn’t fade so that in years to come she’ll know who is who in which photograph.

Look at how gorgeous Ben is!

Introducing Ben’s little brother Joshua :) Too precious -ah!

I’m not going to lie, this was a difficult shoot – what do you expect with a Newborn and a 17 month old?  At one stage I even had a green play-dough worm “wriggling” around on my head to get Ben’s attention :)  I think I got some beautiful portraits all things considered…

A Beautiful afternoon

July 20, 2010

This little girl’s mommy contacted me during the previous week wanting to book a shoot so she could record her precious little girl before she started getting too mobile… Now I had forgotten how “mobile” babies actually are even though they aren’t officially crawling, add to the mix a couple of farm dogs and you have loads of movement with plenty of personality.  When I say personality this little one really made me work!  She hardly ever looked directly at me so I was constantly clicking away.  I think all our hard work paid off as I got some amazing portraits of her.  I also captured a few family portraits. The location was stunning – sugar cane, rolling hills, golden winter sun setting, an avenue of trees and a welcoming family home.  I spent a beautiful afternoon inland from Ballito, Durban.
