Tarryn & Isaac’s Breathtakingly beautiful Wedding, Cranford Country Lodge: PART 1

I photographed Tarryn & Isaac’s breathtakingly beautiful wedding at Cranford Country Lodge in the Midlands a while back and I had a warm fuzzy feeling the entire day… I was giddy with excitement when I saw how they had transformed the reception hall with the help of moms, family and friends. They did it ALL themselves. If there was ever a true DIY wedding, this is it! The “Peace in the Home” plants were grown with love and potted into each handmade pot, decorated with lace and transported carefully, flowers were carefully selected by an aunt and brought to the venue and a sister made the delicious wedding cake. Everything was DIY – but looking at the photos you would never have thought. The oak tree and ceremony area was decorated by the moms. I was so impressed by these ladies. WOW. Tarryn’s mom not only made her own dress but Tarryn’s exquisite wedding dress and I think a few of the bridesmaids dresses as well … Impressive hey – so now you know why I had a warm fuzzy feeling while photographing this wedding, mixed with the tenderness between Tarryn and Isaac, I knew their wedding day would be a special one.

Jo & Paul’s Engagement shoot on the Durban beach front was so much fun! They were so “into” each other. I am so looking forward to shooting their wedding next year. Not only were they relaxed and chilled, but Jo was so appreciative and moved when she saw the photos, saying she just loved them! Thank you Jo & Paul.

Last month I photographed such a awesome weddings at Palm Dune Lodge, Out at Sea, The Pumpkin Theatre and Braeside. I met so many interesting people. A wedding on a windy beach at Palm Dune Lodge, a wedding out at sea on a yacht, another wedding which was hardly like any other wedding I have ever photographed before at the Pumpkin theatre at La Montagne Hotel in Ballito and last but not least a wedding at Braeside on a warm Autumns day with the most beautiful light.

Wedding: Lyndie & Landon, Old Halliwell, KZN Midlands PART 1

I have fond memories of Lyndie and Landon’s wedding at Old Halliwell in the Kwa-Zulu Natal midlands last month. The bride was beautiful, the groom wore a kilt, we were surrounded by loving family members and I was so touched by Landon’s sincere love for Lyndie. Not only did he write her a poem but he sang her a beautiful song which he had written especially for the occasion. It’s almost like I was wearing rose tinted glasses on the day, I really only remember all the love and positive energy and not the purring rain. The rain on their wedding day was not just ordinary rain. It was a torrential down pour which began just as we were about to start their creative shoot. We moved indoors and I excitedly found some soft, dreamy, romantic window light to shoot in. I am so grateful to Lyndie and Landon for trusting me during the down pour – I took some amazing photographs which you can see next week when I post part 2. Here is Part 1 of Lyndie and Landon’s wedding up in the KZN midlands at Old Halliwell.

Taryn & Brandon Calderwood Hall, KZN Midlands, PART 1

Taryn and Brandon’s wedding took place at the newly renovated Calderwood Hall last month, in the KZN Midlands. Taryn was such a vibrant bride, with so many different facial expressions! We had so much fun with this couple, experiencing their sincere love for each other. The speeches were some of the best I have heard and the dancing, what a party. I photographed Wendy & Geoff’s engagement shoot on the Durban beachfront a few weeks back and they were so much fun considering it was about 6:30 am. I’m not much of a morning person but the Durban sun on the beachfront during the early morning is enough to get me out of bed – dreamy, soft and romantic. Wendy and Geoff are such a great couple, they really are. It was so great meeting up with them for coffee for a pre-wedding consult which resulted in them booking me for their wedding at the end of the year and an engagement shoot. I am so looking forward to their wedding – from what Wendy has told me it’s going to be a stylish affair. Having met with Wendy I am once again reminded how small the world is. Wendy knows Gita who’s wedding I photographed back in 2010 and it turns out Wendy’s sister met my husband over the weekend at a friends birthday party. I wasn’t there as I was photographing a wedding. It really is crazy how we are all connected in some small way.

Taryn & Lloyd’s wedding at Shalwyn in the Tala Valley

Taryn & Lloyd’s wedding up at Shalwyn was one filled with smiles, hearty laughter, games, family and love. Taryn and Lloyd were seriously smiling the whole day, even when it started to rain during their creative shoot. Nothing seemed to really worry them. I really enjoyed sharing their special day with them. It was such a pleasure. Thank you Taryn & Lloyd for being so awesome!

This ring was Taryn’s granny’s ring, which was also Taryn’s mom’s wedding ring, and is now Taryn’s wedding ring.

Here are a few wedding photos I have fallen in love with from Sibaya, Calderwood Hall, Old Halliwell, Cranford Country Lodge and the Windmills during the month of March.

Thevash & Ryasha’s wedding at Sibaya, the colors were amazing.

Calderwood Hall, up in the Midlands, have just revamped their reception venue and it looks great. We had loads of fun with Taryn & Brandon.

I’ve always known it to be misty up in Hilton, but this time there was a torrential down pour just as we were trying to take family photos up at Hilton College. Lyndie and Landon were so sincerely in love that I don’t think the rain dampened their spirits at Old Halliwell.

Julie Patrick was originally booked to photograph Carrie & Tim’s wedding but the doctor booked her off sick so she asked me to fill in for her. I’m so glad she did as I was able to take photos like this.

Then I was wowed by some amazing DIY skills from Tarryn and Isaacs moms. Tarryn’s mom made her beautiful wedding dress as well. This was a beautiful wedding at Cranford Country Lodge.

Lastly, but by no means the least, another DIY wedding where the bride, domestic goddess Nicole and her mom made pretty much all the decor and other bits and pieces for her wedding at the Windmills. So many beautiful things for me to photograph.

Thank you to all these couples for being so accommodating and supportive of all my ideas, I truly enjoyed photographing all of you. I will be posting more photos from each wedding in the weeks to come so be sure to check back for more!

Rebecca’s 3rd Ballet Party

I cannot believe it is already April 5th, March has come and gone and I actually survived. It has been one of my busiest months and it was Rebecca’s 3rd birthday. I did not plan well this year as I didn’t take a week end off to have her party, so I got back at 11:30pm after shooting a full day’s wedding in the Midlands and then woke up early and started baking at 6am on the day of her party. Thankfully though I am friends with the wonderfully talented ladies at Glee Projects who create the most amazing decor for any occasions, including stunning wedding invites and stationery. I asked them to please put something together for Rebecca’s Ballet party… Well as always we were so amazed by the magic they created at the bottom of our garden. Rebecca had so much fun and I enjoyed seeing little ballerina’s dancing around – or rather running around, buzzing on a sugar high and jumping on the trampoline.

Here are some of the details Glee Projects created. Nick and I did all the baking a making of food, her cake was quite a challenge but it worked:)
