Dana & Leon had planned to say their vows on a dry riverbed with close friends and family celebrating their wedding up at Leopard Mountain Game Lodge, in Northern KZN. Come their wedding day, and a couple hundred millimeters of rain, the riverbed had a gushing river flowing through so their wedding took place on the balcony at the Lodge overlooking the Zululand Rhino Reserve and the flowing river. There was a sighting of a leopard during the ceremony, but no fuss was made as it was in-between the I-do’s. It was so lovely photographing this wedding, as it was slightly different from the norm – there were succulent desert roses instead of pink or white roses and the natural vegetation was the themed decor instead of hired vintage items. It was truly beautiful. Spiders and lizards were crawling everywhere along with the fiercest looking shongololo’s I’ve ever seen!
The staff at Leopard Mountain were so friendly and jacked up. One of the Game rangers even drove my car out the mud, after I got stuck – I was so relieved, albeit covered in mud as he drove past me huddled under my umbrella on the side of the very muddy road. The day went off without any glitches and all the guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Dana & Leon had the perfect wedding day!
